'As you awaken alone and locked in the warehouse, you struggle to focus on your surroundings as you stand.

You spot a nearby out of place Remington shotgun, torch and VHS camera.

You grab the torch and begin to look around in a vain attempting to locate your fellow workers, when a nearby Walkie-Talkie begins to crackle with static and you hear a voice...'

Development Notes: This is my first game, I've used the project to learn the basics of Unreal Engine game creation. I set the project for myself as a learning tool, but I think you will agree it's a fun atmospheric short. It's taken about two months to complete and was pure blood sweat and tears!

Thank you for playing, if you would like to support future Blvck Disc development please feel free to donate!

Good work!

Hello! Took a moment to feature your game in this big ol' Halloween video of mine. Your game begins at 1:33:45

Nw

Now this right here is what I call pure, dumb horror FUN.

You get a gun. There are rat creatures. Kill the rat creatures. That is it, and it's a blast in all its over-the-top-violence.

I am a bit confused about losing my ammo every time a new area loads, and I do feel like some directions aren't well communicated - starting the player going through the entrance, then dumping them with their backs to a key they need, that opens rooms further back in the office is a bit strange, and it took me a while to figure out how to go anywhere.

Similarly, there is little to tell you to try and interact with the valve or the panel afterwards when you get to the boss, and that too took me acouple of attempts before I even realized it was an option.

But beside of these few communication errors from Dev to Player, Ratribution is good, explosive, goofy horror goodtimes. A perfect game to end this video on! Good work!

Thanks for the feature glad you had fun! - Thanks for the feedback also. If you like scary games you should try the latest release 'When Did You Go?'. Launched it live yesterday!

Hello, I played this game and I absolutely loved it! Great job :)

Fantastic! Glad you had fun! :) Enjoyed watching your play-through.

Great job on this one. Loved the atmosphere, and it was pretty fun overall to just play through. Definitely ended it wanting to have rat hunting to do!

I did come about a couple of bugs; specifically, at the ending, I somehow managed to break the game so I couldn't press the button. Not sure how that happened, but something to keep in mind for any future projects.

Keep up the great work, you have a solid core understanding of game design, and I can't wait to see what you do next!

Thanks so much for the feedback boundless! - I'm working on a final version of this 2.0 with some additions and small changes. I'll look into the button for that and consider some of your "quality of life" ideas.  Loved the play though, you've gained a new subscriber on your YouTube!

My gameplay from Ratribution

Great to see!

I really liked the game, though I did not really understand the shotgun. Sometimes using one shell, sometimes using 2 shells with one shot. Nice short game with quite the rigth amount of suspense here.
Maybe lower the amount of ammo, because only having like 20 shells and having to look fore more is even more suspenseful than having 100+ shells most of the time.
Aside from that, very good work.
I really liked it and will post a gameplay video when it's uploaded.
Keep up the good work :)

Thanks for the feedback Cobar, glad you enjoyed it on the whole! On the subject of the Shotgun, never experienced the double shooting you described but you can fast spam the shots there is no speed restriction. The ammo amount is something I considered but since you've only the one weapon I was a bit worried about players running out of ammo and having no way left to kill an enemy. In v2.0 I might add a melee weapon as well to overcome this and reduce the Shotgun ammo. :)

Maybe I just hold LMB for too long and that caused the double shooting. Since there was enough ammo aroung, it did not really bother me, but was pretty helpful against the bigger rats :D
I'm really excited for what games are about to be developed by you in the future.
That was a very good first game :)

Thanks very much! Already finished adding a few updates to 'Ratribution' which includes less ammo, and a kick action for melee in case the player runs out of ammo! Also increased damage from the rats. All coming in version 2.0. Currently working on a couple of projects, one of which is another action horror, and the other is a non-combat psychological horror mystery! Stay locked in, peace!

Sounds good. You can be sure that I will play them too. :)

I can't seem to be able to open the doors. What am I missing?

(1 edit)

SPOILER ALERT: You need the keys!, they're hung up on the key hooks.. I wondered about the difficulty here, they don't flash or stand out and are quite subtle so I'll explain here for future folks stuck here. First keys are nearby where you start, in the lit office area above the axe. The second set used to open the fire escape at the back of the warehouse are upstairs in the canteen. Hope this helps!

A perfect little horror shooter, Good job, and thanks for sharing this.

Thanks for the feedback Max, much appreciated!
